Last month I drew your attention to Warkworth Drama Group and their production of Jack and the Beanstalk. They completed their run at the Warkworth Memorial Hall yesterday and by all accounts it's been another highly successful production.
But Warkworth are by no means the only amateur dramatics society embarking on the classic tale this Christmas. This time next month, Tiverton Dramatic Society will be staging their own version over the Cullompton Venue (a.k.a. Cullompton Community Centre). So if you don't live in the North East or want something to whet your appetite before my appearance in Snow White over in Broadclyst, this is definitely the show for you.
Details of the show are being kept under wraps for the time being, but following my appearance with the same company in A Man For All Seasons, I can safely say you're in for a treat. The Tiverton company are a lively, talented and enthusiastic bunch with a long history of strong, successful pantos, and I am certain that this year will be no exception. I've also had the pleasure of performing at Cullompton (in a talent show, no less) and can thereby also swear by the venue: it's a beautiful, spacious setting and ideal for this kind of show.
Jack and the Beanstalk plays at the Cullompton Venue from Thursday 16th to Saturday 18th January.
Performances start at 7:30pm on all dates with a 2:30pm matinee also available on the Saturday. Tickets are £6 for adults, £4 for children not at secondary school, and free for children under 3. Tickets are available from Cullompton Venue, The Hayridge or from Twyford Photography in Tiverton. Good luck to all involved!
