LETTERS OF NOTE: Mae West

Another joyful offering from Letters of Note, this time concerning one of Hollywood's great blonde bombshells, Mae West.
In 1943 West discovered the RAF had taken to nicknaming their life jackets 'Mae Wests': their bulging shape when inflated was said to resemble the actor's famously large bust and curvy body. West was naturally flattered, and penned a letter to "the Boys of the RAF" replete with her trademark charm and double entendres. You can read the full text of it here.
